On 6/21/04 a woman driving a 2000 Dodge Ram pickup truck jumped the gun at a stop sign and totaled my 1999 Onyx Black Camaro Z28/6 speed/t-top/bolt-ons! :(
I was behind a dump truck about three car lengths... how she didn't see me, I'll never know!

- In this site you will find a few pics of the totaled 99Z.

Luckily, I get to transfer a few of my 99's bolt-ons to the '02 including the SLP exhaust, BMR APHR, JEG'S rear girdle and possibly my 17"x10" OZ Competition wheels (after being completely checked out after this accident. I plan on getting BMR SFC's and STB as the first set of new mods.

I walked out of this accident. Suffered some bad bruises on my inner left thigh from contacting the steering wheel and mild surface burns on my left arm from the air bags. Other than that, just fine. The integrity of these cars is far more than most people might think.

IMHO what contributed to my safety was the BMR STB (shock tower brace) and MAC sub-frame connectors. The STB obviously transferred the energy to the drivers side shock tower. It ended up pushing out the driver’s side fender, shock tower and twisted the STB. The frame was bent but if you could see under the car, you’d see how the SFC’s prevented the frame from twisting more. The pics do the accident no justice in overall destruction.

After a month of searching,  I purchased 2002 35th Anniversary Edition Z28 and in the colors I wanted (silver on black). Only 16,456 miles when I purchased it. Flawless and clean as an off-the-showroom-floor Z28. Only big difference… 4 speed auto from a 6-speed stick. I do miss the 6 but it’s nothing a good torque converter and shift kit can’t change... ;)
